Context of a Project

What is the context of a project?

The background of a project, also called background of investigation or background of a problem, is all the work previously carried out on the subject to be investigated and which provides information relevant to our work.

The antecedents are used to know the points of view of the different authors, their methodologies and their results. They help us to know which aspects have been dealt with, which remain to be explored and to define the progress of the project.

Structurally, they present the references of the works consulted and a summary of the contents, which presents the information in a synthesized way to facilitate the work of the reader.

Types of project funds

  • The theoretical background These are all published writings on the subject, publications and bibliographic sources in various formats such as monographs, essays, degree projects, theses, scientific journals and books. Also digital resources present in catalogs, repositories and university libraries.
  • The field backgroundare studies based on experimental tests, such as questionnaires or examinations, carried out to collect real data on individuals or on the environment under study.

How to make the background of a project?

1.Documents

In this first phase, the available information related to the problem we are going to deal with is compiled. Use archival publications such as university libraries or research centers for reliable sources.

2. Literature review

We need to review the bibliography that has been compiled and select the publications that are relevant to our thesis. We need to link the results from the background to our project and highlight the most interesting positions.

3. Organization of information

The order of work must be chronological, from the oldest to the most recent, to know the progression of the study and the situation in which it finds itself today. We must follow a common thread that ensures consistency and facilitates the organization of information.

4. Writing

He begins by writing an introduction to introduce the works and explain the reasons why they were selected. Each proofreading must first identify the author, indicate the year and the title of the work, analyze the processes used, and the instruments if necessary. Finally, the results are presented as a conclusion.

Examples of project context

Topic: Compliance with home distance obligations.

In this research, we will review the effects that remote obligation fulfillment has had at home during the pandemic. We will analyze the period from March to December 2020, during which the confinement and the health crisis took place, in two specific countries: Spain and Mexico.

Research fund

The confinement experienced in Spain and Mexico during the year 2020 has led to the establishment of new methods of work and studies that require solutions at the national level.

Saldívar-Garduño, A., Ramírez-Gómez, KE (2020) in their works Mental health, gender and distance learning during the COVID-19 lockdown in Mexico, examines the adaptation of the Mexican population to remote work and online education. It demonstrates the lack of means to develop professional activities at home and the deterioration of the mental health of individuals due to the stress and uncertainty faced with this situation.

(2021) in their study School games and homework: school and family in Covid-19, makes a questionnaire to Spanish fathers and mothers with school-age children. A survey of parents’ school load after school closures to measure time spent playing and time spent doing homework. There is an increase of 62.86% in the consumption of screen games and time spent on schoolwork by 51.93% compared to before the pandemic.

In conclusion, the increase in the use of technology requires electronic devices that allow the development of daily obligations. In disadvantaged households, negative emotional responses have been observed due to the stress generated by the lack of knowledge and economic resources.
