What is Distribution:

Distribution is the action and effect of distributing. By distributing is meant distributing a thing in the proportion that corresponds to each part.

The word distribution has its origin in the Latin expression distributed which means ‘distribute’. In turn, the term is formed by the particles saywhich means ‘multiple separation’ and tributewhich means ‘tribute’.

Distribution is a word that is used in many areas, such as economics, architecture, mechanics, science, etc., depending on which its intention changes.

Distribution in economy

The word distribution has many uses in economics. We speak of distribution or distribution of products to refer to the distribution service of goods throughout the marketing territory. Example: “First thing in the morning, transport will have to start distributing the newspaper.”

It can also refer to the distribution of income, referring to the way in which material resources are distributed among different socioeconomic sectors. For example: “In recent years there has been a deterioration in the distribution of income among the less favored sectors of the country.”

Distribution in architecture

It refers to the distribution of architectural space, that is, to the way in which the space must be developed so that each of its parts fulfills a certain function within the design. Example: “The distribution of the rooms in the house allows good air circulation.”

Distribution in automotive mechanics

It refers to a mechanism that controls the flow of certain gases in the cylinder. Example: “This car’s distribution system broke down.”

IT Distribution

In computer science we speak of software distribution to refer to a set of previously compiled and configured software. For example, it can refer to software licenses as well as executable (.exe) files and free software.
