What is Photoshop

Photoshop is the popular name of a Program computer science image edition. His full name is photoshop and is developed by the company Adobe Systems Incorporated. It works on Apple Macintosh and Windows operating systems.

The trade name of this product can be translated from English as ‘photo workshop’. Although there are other similar programs such as GIMP or PhotoPaint, in popular culture this word is used to also refer to the ‘digital retouching of an image’. For example: “In this photo they have gone overboard with the Photoshop“.

The use of this type of programs in the world of fashion and advertising arouses controversy when photos of models are retouched to such an extent that they distort reality. Different associations have complained that it can cause eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia by showing an ideal of beauty that is difficult to achieve.
