Lumbersexual

We explain what a lumbersexual is and what this fashion consists of. Also, the origin of this term and its relationship with nature.

Lumbersexual
A lumbersexual highlights the traditional concept of masculinity.

What is a lumbersexual?

The term lumbersexual has become fashionable due to certain aesthetic trends in men's fashion, characterized by a certain air of carelessness regarding appearance, with long beards, scruffy shirts, usually checked, jeans, rustic boots, in short, items that refer to a somewhat rough, country masculinity, summarized in the ideal resemblance to an American lumberjack (hence the term lumbersexual: derived from lumberjack“woodcutter” in English).

In general terms, lumbersexuals are considered as a response to metrosexual aestheticsvery in vogue during previous years, and according to which the man had to pay enough efforts and attention to his appearance to look neat, shaved, combined and in some cases made up, characteristics that are traditionally associated with the feminine spectrum of social and of fashion.

Thus, lumbersexuals would become a staging of certain traditional idea of the masculine: virility linked to strength, physical effort, natural appearance and unconcerned with fashion. The latter constitutes a paradox, since lumbersexuals are precisely a masculine aesthetic fashion for which many accessories, clothing and accessories are offered on the market, and to which no little attention is devoted.

There is not really a sexual or erotic determination of lumbersexuals, although their appearance suggests protective, paternal, aggressive, self-confident roles. They are supposed to love nature, although it is about an eminently urban fashion. Men who adhere to this fashion can also belong to any sexual orientation. It's not really a sexual genre, but rather a fashion aesthetic.
