What is vision?

Vision, also called sight or visual perception, is one of the five senses of the human being. It consists of the ability to perceive and interpret light rays and create an image of the surrounding reality.. In this process, both the eyes and the brain intervene.

Humans and most animals share the sense of visionwhich is adapted to the specific conditions of the habitat of each form of life. Thus, for example, some birds are able to see over great distances, while certain insects can perceive a spectrum of light that escapes the human eye.

For human beings, vision is a primordial senseto the point that in all cultures it is associated with consciousness, life, reason and understanding. Hence expressions such as “of course”, “I see” or similar are used to express understanding.

The sense of vision depends on the organ that receives light, that is, the eye. The eyes are truly sophisticated organic structures, composed of the following elements:

  • Cornea. It is a translucent membrane that allows light to enter. It is located in the front region of the eye.
  • Pupil. It is an opening that regulates the amount of light that enters the eye, expanding or narrowing according to the conditions of the environment.
  • Crystalline. It is a biconvex and flexible lens that focuses light towards the back region of the eye.
  • Retina. It is an inner membrane covered with sensitive cells, which receives light and transmits it to the optic nerve so that it reaches the brain.

The vision, therefore, is fruit of the correct functioning of the eye, but also of the correct interpretation of the images received. Mechanical or optical defects in the constitution of the eye can often be corrected through external lenses or, if appropriate, through intraocular surgeries.

On the other hand, the eyes are located in the orbital cavity of the skull, protected by the eyelids, which maintain the moisture of the eye and prevent the entry of impurities. In addition, there is a tear gland that secretes fluid to moisten and clean them regularly.

Finally, the mobility of the eye is due to the muscles driven by the motor nerves located inside it, which allow it not only to rotate on its axis, but also to focus vision further or closer. The human eye, in its full conditions, is capable of perceiving a telephone cable 400 meters away.

The business vision is the future objective of the organization.

The vision of a company, also called business vision, is a concept that reflects the future objective of an organizationthat is, where you want to go, how you imagine yourself in the long term. The vision of a company is normally determined by its founders, although it can change as it grows and its objectives are met.

This concept is fundamental in the constitution and organization of a company, given that its operation revolves around that goal proposed from the beginning. Together with the mission, that is, its reason for existence and fundamental mission, the vision represents the central aspect in the constitution of a company.

Supernatural or religious vision

Divine or supernatural revelations are called visions or apparitions.

A mystical, supernatural, or divine vision, also known as an apparition or manifestation, is a event in which a person has a revelation inexplicable in rational terms. This is interpreted as a visit from God or some divinity, a ghost or some other similar entity.

These types of visions do not happen to everyone, but to individuals with a certain propensity for the mystical or with a lot of religious devotion, mental illness, or subjected to drugs and psychotropics. For this reason, they can never be proven true, even though they play an important role in the history of religion.

Famous, for example, are the religious visions of the Christian mystical poets Saint John of the Cross (1542-1591) and Saint Teresa of Jesus (1515-1582).
